The Lilac Geometric Mini Mochilla with Tassels by Tribal Trends is one stunning work of art.  Made of single thread 100% local cotton by master weavers in Columbia, a single bag takes up to one month to make.  Contrary to the cheaper, polyester double thread versions that are sometimes seen at outdoor markets, you can tell the difference between them  immediately.  This high-end version has much narrower rows and tighter detail because a single thread is used at a time to weave the pattern versus thicker double strands that produce a chunkier look and feel.

Notice the attention to fine detail:  the patterns are distinctly and uniformly finished.  The straps are also hand-woven.  And you’ll want to show off the bottom which has its own pattern, all of which helps identify which remote area and which artisan made the bag.

Care:  You can gently wash in mild soap and drip dry flat, taking care of the tassels.  To help keep its shape while drying, stuff it with a plastic bag that has been stuffed with other plastic bags to form the rough shape of a ball.  Stuff the wet bag with it.  Once its nearly dry, remove the plastic bag and stand it up to complete drying inside.
